Yeh mehfil sajti hei har Sunday ko, sirf Spice of life par…” Those lines sound familiar? Well, East FM is not the only place where Jasmine hosts a “mehfil”. Event management comes to her as naturally as radio presenting. The famous Boogie Woogie dance competitions held last year proved her forte in event management. As of now, she is busy grooming the ten contestants for the ABC Bank Miss India Kenya 2005 pageant on 27th August. And from what she tells me, this time the show will rock! I will take your word for it, Jass.

Chapatti ko seik kar, us ke baad ghee daalna, pati ko khush rakhne ka raaz, patli chapatti…” Remember the Chipsy ad? She actually had us all in splits by those two lines. Sapna Umameshwar has gone a step further. She is on her way to become an actress now! Yes, I heard it from the horse’s mouth (Oops, what is a female horse called, anyway?) She will be featuring in a Blue Sky films productions as an aunt! It’s only a matter of time before our Puraani Yaadein presenter actually tells us, “Bollywood calling…”

Well, as of now these are our heroes and heroines making news wherever they go, but like they say, Stars are born at East FM, not anywhere else… who knows, there could be more to come. Only time will tell!

Just Kidding

Inside East FM!!!

"My first pair of teeth"-Javed

Every human being has a special quality in them that sets them apart from the rest. I know that is not “news” to you, it was just meant to be a decent opener, so do not fret!
Now, back to my topic. When God created Man, he blessed them each with an exceptional quality. I don’t know what went wrong with me, I turned out to be such a dud, but well, that’s between me and God. Anyway, this week, let’s take a look at the “heroes” or “heroines” (for the sake of gender equality), of East FM.

Here’s Gupz – the biggest of the nuts you will ever find on earth and across the seven planets. His one-line on-air comments undoubtedly say it all. But there is more to this chap than meets the eye.
Did you know that he has been a performer ever since he was a kid (In the sense of music and singing, do not get wrong ideas). The dude spends most of his time doing gigs all over Kenya. Furthermore, he has even performed in East African countries and Australia.
His latest album, Punjabi, won him an award at the famous Kisima Awards ceremony this year. Currently, he is working on his next song titled Pyar, in his newly acquired studio.

Next is Ms. Jabbal a.k.a Jabs. For some reason, I hate calling her Jabs… sounds more like punches to me than a girl’s name. That’s why I like the name that she uses before her entertainment column in the Sunday Standard – Harleen Jabbal. You must have read her columns on Hindi films and Asian events. And if rumour mills are to be believed, our new Head of Production, Jabs is about to make yet another big step. Watch this space.
